Notes for contributors

Concept, the interdisciplinary journal of the Graduate Division of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Villanova University, accepts submissions from Villanova graduate students in all fields of the arts and sciences. Submissions from recent Villanova alumni are also accepted. Submissions are reviewed by graduate student editors, faculty editors and peer reviewers, with final decisions made by the editors.

The journal is published once a year at the end of the spring semester. The deadline for submissions will vary, but it is usually around February 1st. Please see the current on-line "Call for papers" for specific details. Submissions should be sent to the Faculty Managing Editor. However, submissions may also be addressed to: Concept, c/o The Office of Graduate Studies, The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Villanova University, Villanova PA 19085.

 Submissions should observe the following format:

  • To ensure blind, impartial review, the writer’s name should not appear on the paper itself. However, a title must appear on the first page, and all references along with a bibliography or works-cited page must be include.
  • All submissions should be accompanied with a contact page that includes the author's name, department, title of the paper, e-mail address, and telephone number.
  • Four (4) double-sided copies of the paper must be submitted to the Faculty Managing Editor, and you must email a copy of the submission to her or him.
  • An author may submit no more than two (2) articles. Contributions longer than 25 pages are discouraged.
  • References should follow a form accepted in the discipline. An abstract is optional, depending on the conventions in the respective disciplines.
