FAQs

Do I need prior experience?

While prior yearbook or publication experience is suggested, we will train you on our software.  We use Microsoft Office products and Adobe InDesign (formerly PageMaker).  If you have used any of these programs before, you are encouraged to apply.  Creativity is a must, though.

What is the time commitment?

The most important thing to remember is that you will have a staff to help you with your department duties so you won't be doing it alone.  Most editors meet with their staff members once a week, with more frequent meetings around the five deadlines throughout the year.  You may need to come in on your own to complete some tasks but you will be able to come and go as needed.

Are there any restrictions that apply?

We are asking, for training purposes, that current freshmen and sophomores apply for these positions.  The exception is for the Seniors department, where we prefer rising seniors.

What are the benefits for becoming an editor?

As an editor, you will receive a free engraved copy of the yearbook.  Furthermore, you will receive access to our fully-equipped office in Corr Hall, meet other great students, gain a great addition to your resume, have access to special events, and more.  Most importantly, however, you get to see the yearbook months before everyone else and then you can brag to your friends that your work is on the pages of the book.

How to apply:

Currently not accepting Editorial position applications. General staff are welcome to join though. If you have any questions, please email Kristen Ryback at kristen.ryback@villanova.edu or Susan Flood at susan.flood@villanova.edu.

Download the application here.  Completed applications may be dropped off in 217 Dougherty.
