Luncheon
held for Michael Baker scholarship winners On Nov. 9 a luncheon was held at the Villanova
Both Halcovage and Gilpin were awarded Michael Baker diversity scholarships. The scholarships recognize the accomplishments of women, in this case, making their way in the field of engineering. Halcovage said she was “honored to receive the scholarship from a company with a global presence in the field.” In addition, Halcovage was extremely appreciative to Michael Baker because the award enabled her to study abroad last semester at the University of Sheffield in England. Ledgerwood was being honored at the luncheon as a Michael Baker intern. Currently participating in a business internship for an engineering division, Ledgerwood began working for Michael Baker in the summer. For Ledgerwood, who met Don Fusilli, president of Michael Baker at a dean’s advisory meeting, working for the company has helped her come full circle. Lederwood explained, “I grew up down the block from the Michael Baker office in Pittsburgh, I always knew the company’s name.” At the luncheon Villanova was represented by dean of Engineering, Barry Johnson, Joan Chrestay, associate dean of External Relations for Engineering, as well as Melanie Terburg, assistant director of External Relations for Engineering. Michael Baker’s president, Don Fusilli, David Higie, vice president Corporate Communications, Jill Diorio, the coordinator of Michael Baker minority programs and Mark Alisesky were also in attendance. |
