Dr. McCarraher Receives 2002 Sophia Research Award Dr. Eugene McCarraher (left), Ennis Fellow in the humanities and Augustinian traditions department, received the 2002 Sophia Research Award for his scholarly research on Feb. 27 in a ceremony held in Room 300 of the St. Augustine Center. The award was presented by Dr. Barbara Wall (right), special assistant to the President for Mission, and associate professor of philosophy. As part of the event, McCarraher delivered his paper titled, “Mammon’s Deadly Grin: The Enchantments of Corporate Capitalism and the Political Economy of Life.” The annual research project is sponsored by the Office of Mission Effectiveness. The theme of the project for fall of 2002 was “The Place of Religious Discourse in the Public Square.” |
