Noteworthy
Dr. Elizabeth R. Bruderle, School of
Nursing, has recently earned a doctor of nursing degree from Widener University.
Her dissertation was titled Incoming Undergraduate Nursing Students’
Perceptions of Nurse Caring Behaviors. She teaches both undergraduate
and graduate nursing students. She has been an instructor at Villanova
since 1990 and has been awarded honorable mention for the Lindback Outstanding
Teacher Award and the Excellence in Education Nursing Education Award
from the Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. Charles H. Helmetag, professor of Classical/Modern Languages &
Literature, published an article titled “Arthur Schnitzler um die
Jahrtausendwende: Neue englischsprachige Bearbeitungen von 'Reigen' und
'Traumnovelle'” in Zeitenwende—Die Germanistik auf dem Weg
vom 20. ins 21. Jahrhundert: Akten des X. Internationalen Germanisten-Kongresses.
Villanova Ethics Bowl Team finished in fourth place out of 40 schools
in the 9th Annual Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl held in Charlotte, N.C.
Congratulations to the students: Kristen Carey, Biology and Honors; Columb
Higgins, Philosophy and English; Kathryn Rutigiano, English and Political
Science; Meghan Snow, Biology and Honors; Jennifer Tran, political science;
and coaches Mark Doorley, Ethics; Brett Wilmot, Peace and Justice; and
Sarah-Vaughn Brakman, Ethics.
Iraq: Its History, People and Politics edited by Shams C. Inati, professor
of Islamic philosophy and theology, will soon be released. Contributors
come from a vide variety of well-respected universities, including Villanova
University, University of Chicago, Dartmouth College and the University
of Paris. Dr. Inati has also been granted a Fulbright award for the academic
year 2003-04. She will spend the year in the Middle East, working on a
research project for a new book.
