Dr.
John D. Caputo to retire

Dr.
John D. Caputo, the David R. Cook Endowed Professor of Philosophy, has
announced that he will retire from Villanova at the end of this academic
year.
Caputo has accepted a position as the Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion
and Humanities at Syracuse University. At Syracuse, he will teach two
courses during the fall semesters--a graduate course in philosophy and
a graduate course in religion. Alternately, during the spring semesters,
he expects to facilitate major academic conferences similar to those he
has organized at Villanova. “I have been looking forward to joining
a graduate program in religion, especially one with an interest in theory,
which is what Syracuse affords,” said Caputo.
Caputo, who joined the University in 1968, will receive an emeritus title
from Villanova and will continue working with the Ph.D. students that
he is currently mentoring.
