Philanthropic
event added to Greek Week
Eileen M. Rafferty ‘06
On
the morning of March 25, a new philanthropic event “Can Castle”
was incorporated into the University’s Greek Week. Dozens of Greeks
gathered around the Oreo to build structures with canned goods they attained.
“During Greek Week when we celebrate being Greek men and women,
it's important to also celebrate the service aspect of fraternity and
sorority life, said Staci Bishop, Greek life advisor. “We believe
that adding Can Castle does this.”
Prior to the event, chapters gathered canned goods, and with these cans,
Greeks built a “Can Castle.” Chapters received points for
the number of cans collected and the most creative design.
Winners of the event were Alpha Delta Phi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. All
cans were donated to the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank.
