“Villanova
is the perfect choice for me”
Eileen M. Rafferty ’06
“Villanova
is the perfect choice for me,” said Adrian Blincoe with a smile
across his face. After attending Rosmini College High School and two years
of University education in New Zealand, Blincoe— determined and
resolute— decided he was ready to move on.
Since the University’s track program is one of the best in the world,
Blincoe chose Villanova to continue his running career and finish his
education. Although Blincoe was accustomed to his father training him,
head track and field coach Marcus O’Sullivan couldn’t have
been more supportive and encouraging, helping to make Blincoe’s
transition a smooth one.
Not only was Blincoe lured by the track program, but the University was
an ideal place for him to receive an excellent business education. Because
he has his heart set on accountancy, following in his mother’s footprints.
“I always thought that I should study business,” said Blincoe.
“I didn’t even contemplate studying anything else.”
Since he also takes pleasure in traveling, Blincoe feels that accounting
will suit him well.
Blincoe’s inner drive, which powers his competitiveness, is also
seen through his love for team sports. He followed rugby in New Zealand,
and now he enjoys following the Philadelphia sports teams, particularly
the Eagles.
Although he graduated last May, Blincoe is so fond of Villanova that he
hasn’t yet left. He is continuing to train with the University’s
track team while waiting to participate in the Olympics in Athens this
summer, where he will run in the 1500 meter.
