Cocktail Connections
Colleen O’Boyle ‘04

Career Services hosted “Cocktail Connections” on Feb. 12 as part of the Senior Steps program, an initiative created to prepare graduating seniors for the professional world after college. Held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Montrose Mansion, the event was designed to educate seniors on networking strategies, while providing an opportunity to make contacts with numerous Villanova alumni.

The evening began as a casual cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres and beverages that provided attendees an opportunity to mingle. Al Uszynski, Villanova class of ’93, was the keynote speaker. He presented a number of innovative ways to improve networking skills, including how to “break the ice” with a possible business alliance, how to follow-up with personal connections and strategies for continually building a personal contact database. Following his address, students practiced these techniques by talking with a number of Villanova alumni. Phone numbers were exchanged, resumes shared, and pleasant conversation was enjoyed by all.
