Mock Trial Team participates in regional tournament
By Caitlin Collins '05

On the weekend of Feb. 18, the Villanova University Mock Trial Team took part in a regional tournament at Princeton University. The team, who participated in their first full year of competition during the 2003-2004 season, delivered a stellar performance and gleaned high accolades.

In just their second year as an organized team, Villanova Mock Trial sent two teams to the prestigious tournament at Princeton. Both the “A” and “B” teams had successful runs at the tournament, with the “A” team falling just half a point shy of receiving a bid to the National Championship Tournament. Indeed, the “A” team met and beat some of the best teams in the tournament.

In addition to the honors earned by the group, two individuals, Paul Vitale ’05 and Greg Riviello ’05 won prestigious “Best Witness” awards at Princeton. Team president Brian Collins ’05 commented on the benefits of a university mock trial team, saying, “Participating in mock trial prepares people for law school and is also great for critical thinking.”
