Graduate, Part-Time Undergraduate and Continuing Studies Fall Open House attracts near record crowd

More than 500 candidates, a near record attendance from the tri-state area, crowded the Villanova Room of the Connelly Center on Oct. 21 to learn more about graduate, part-time undergraduate and continuing education programs.

From 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. program directors and faculty members answered questions from prospective students about the testing and enrollment process, education financing and opportunities for on-site as well as distance learning courses and certificate programs. Attendees also participated in 17 seminars covering a variety of topics including strategies for admission to the Villanova Law School program, the new FTE (Full-Time Equivalent 24 month) MBA and Professional MBA programs, Careers in Human Resources, Opportunities for Distance Education, Careers in Strategic Communication and the Attributes Executive Search Firms Look for in Post-Graduate Candidates.

Dr. Robert Stokes, asst. vice president for Academic Affairs and chair of the advertising and marketing committee which sponsors the Open House said, “I want to extend my thanks to the college deans and program directors and chairs who supported this collaborative event as well as the other Open House events over the past six years. With seminars, information tables staffed by Financial Services, Career Services, International Student Advisor and external groups, campus tours, shuttle bus service and faculty at information tables, the event certainly provides a positive, informative experience for attendees. Special thanks to the Advertising and Marketing Committee, comprised of representatives from each college, which plans the event; Barbara Clement and her staff from Communication and Public Affairs, especially Curtis Cooke who is the logistics coordinator and handles registrations and many marketing tasks; Brenda Grove and Linda Pugliese for coordinating a 700 plus batch mailing and 500 plus e-mail distribution of brochures; Kathy Howell and Greta Kropp of Howell Partners for the advertising, radio, print ads and direct mail brochure activities which sent a clear message about Villanova to the Greater Philadelphia area; administrative staff in departments who referred prospective students to the Open House. The Connelly Center staff, notably Tony Alfano, Annetta Stowman, Terry Sousa and Bill Davis who provided the perfect setting and services to make sure the event was successful. It was a Villanova effort in the truest sense!”

The Committee will host the spring 2004 Open house on March 23 in the Villanova Room of the Connelly Center.
