Villanova
named among top 10 of most connected campuses
Irene Burgo
Villanova University is wired for the future and that
has been noted by the “techies in the know.” In recognition
of the depth and breadth of technology on campus today, Villanova has
been named by The Princeton Review as No. 8 among “The Top 25 Most
Connected Campuses.”
The Princeton Review’s list illustrates the pervasiveness of technology
on campuses today. To identify colleges on the list, The Princeton Review
collated responses from more than 100,000 college students, as well as
data from campus administrators. Criteria included the student/computer
ratio, wireless access on campus, the breadth of the computer science
curriculum and comments from students, as well as data from campus administrators.
One hundred percent of college campuses now have Internet access. On today’s
campus, it’s important that online access be provided for multiple
venues from classroom lecture, to library catalogs, to the lunch menu,
to the campus radio station and more. In addition to its these types of
features and its many distance learning offerings, Villanova is in the
process of installing a new University-wide wireless communication system
that soon will make the entire campus completely wired. The top 10 connected
colleges on the list follow:
1. Stevens Institute of Technology
2. Wake Forest University
3. Georgia Institute of Technology
4. Bentley College
5. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
6. Bryant College
7. Illinois Institute of Technology
8. Villanova University
9. Hampton University
10. University of South Dakota
The Princeton Review’s announcement was made in conjunction with
the launch of The Consumer Electronics Association’s TechKnow Overload
Tour, a campus-to-campus traveling technology showcase.
