Groundbreaking ceremony
With shovels in hand and hard hats on their heads,
senior administrators broke ground on Oct. 28 for a new Structural
Engineering Teaching and Research Laboratory. The new structure will be
located on a site adjoining the Facilities Services Maintenance Building off
Ithan Avenue and County Line Road. From left to right, the Rev. Kail Ellis,
O.S.A. dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Rev. Edmund J.
Dobbin, O.S.A., University president, Thomas “Tom” Portland, chair of the
College of Engineering Advisory Council, Dr. Barry Johnson, dean of the
College of Engineering, Dr. Ronald Chadderton, chair and professor,
department of civil and environmental engineering, Dr. David Dinehart,
