Nursing earns Center of Excellence designation from National League for
Nursing
Villanova University College of Nursing proudly
announces its designation as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by
the National League for Nursing (NLN) in the category “Creating environments
that enhance student learning and professional development.” The College is
home to well-respected bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs, as
well as a vibrant continuing education program. College representatives
received the honor at the NLN Education Summit in Orlando on Oct. 1.
Inaugurated this year, Center of Excellence is a new
national designation from the NLN — the oldest professional nursing
organization in the country that has nursing education as its primary
concern. The designation is separate from accreditation and identifies
schools of exceptional quality. Each school’s application undergoes peer
review and designation is approved by the executive committee of the Nursing
Education Advisory Council of NLN. “This designation validates the quality
of a Villanova Nursing education and the importance of scholarly teaching by
our faculty,” explained Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor M. Louise
Fitzpatrick, Ed.D., R.N., FAAN.
In
pursuing distinction as a Center of Excellence, the College of Nursing
successfully demonstrated high standards and commitment to
research-supported innovative program designs, flexible curricula,
faculty-student collaboration, mutual trust and respect between faculty and
students, faculty and student involvement in the community and faculty
development of new teaching methods. In this way, the College of Nursing
ensures a dynamic learning environment for undergraduate, graduate and
lifelong learning students alike. |
