Up and
Coming: Catholic social teaching and racism By Michael Nataro '06 On Nov. 18-19, Dr. Barbara Wall from the Office for Mission Effectiveness is sponsoring a two-day workshop titled “Catholic Social Teaching and Racism.” This two-day program, beginning Thursday morning and lasting all day Friday, boasts an assembly of scholars and experts from Harvard, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown from a variety of different academic fields. The Office for Mission Effectiveness is greatly looking forward to this program. “The goal of the conference is to continue a dialogue between the tradition of Catholic social teaching on the sacredness and dignity of all people and the current research on racism as found in the research and literature of the social sciences, humanities and law. We will examine the ways Catholic social teaching informs the dialogue and the ways current research and inform Catholic social teaching,” said Wall. This event is open to the public as well as to the Villanova community. Professors are strongly encouraged to promote this event and to participate by bringing their classes. |
