Desmond Tutu addresses the Villanova community

   On Oct. 6 Archbishop Desmond Tutu addressed the Villanova University community at the Pavilion. Students, faculty, staff and members of the University and community from the surrounding area gathered together for the commencement of the evening at 7:30 p.m.

   “An Evening With Archbishop Desmond Tutu,” was sponsored by Catholic Relief Services, the University Campus Activities Team, the College of Engineering, the Villanova Experience program, the Center for Peace & Justice Education and the Department of History/Africa Studies. Speaking on issues of humanity, peace and religion, Archbishop Tutu offered the audience insight on his life and career as an Anglican priest, bishop and finally archbishop. 

   Archbishop Tutu, who has been named the 2004 A. Dwyer/St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award recipient, won the Noble Peace Prize in 1984. In addition, Archbishop Tutu has published many works including, Crying in the Wilderness, Hope and Suffering, An African Prayer Book and No Future Without Forgiveness.
