Jim Lamb appointed new director of Custodial Services
By Colleen Moughan

Have you ever given recognition to those responsible for maintaining a clean environment for the University community here at Villanova? Here are two words for you: Custodial Services. The Custodial Services division of the Facilities Management Office not only maintains a healthy environment, but also continues to provide efforts towards enhancing the quality of life here on Villanova’s campus.

Jim Lamb, former Custodial supervisor who has been with Villanova for the past 2 ½ years, has recently been appointed as new director of Custodial Services. Instead of supervising certain operations, he now has the responsibility of overseeing the entire operation of Custodial Services. Along with this task, he also oversees budgets and labor relations. When asked what he hopes to accomplish as new director, Lamb stated, “We constantly want to improve the level of cleaning and continue to keep complaints down.”

Many times Custodial Services is only recognized when something needs to be done immediately, when in fact, they are constantly doing things. Jim Lamb refers to the employees of Custodial Services as “unsung heroes.” The mission of these “unsung heroes” is to provide a responsive service to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff, as well as to enhance the overall quality of life on campus. Custodial Services continues to provide routine cleaning responsibilities as well as a responsive service designed to meet campus needs, and therefore deserves great recognition.

Custodial Services’ normal business hours are 7 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. After 3:30 p.m., or on weekends, emergencies may be called into the Department of Public Safety, who will then get in touch with someone on duty.
