NOTEWORTHY
Villanova was well represented at the 55th Annual meeting
of NAFSA Association of International Educators Conference in Salt Lake
City last May 25-30. Michael Gaynor, Director of University Admissions
was the Chair for a session entitled, “IB and AP: A Challenging
Conversation.” Candice Keith, Associate Director for International
Admission presented a workshop entitled, “Foundations of International
Education: Building an International Admissions Office.” Marcus
O’Sullivan, Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach participated
in a session discussing “International Admission, Advising and the
NCAA.”
At the Summer MathFest in Burlington Vermont, Dr. Timothy
Feeman, professor of Mathematics, received the George Polya Award. The
Mathematical Association of America presented the award to Feeman in recognition
of expository excellence for his article, “Conformality, the Exponential
Function, and World Map Projections,” which appeared in the College
Mathematics Journal, Vol. 32, November 2001, pp.334-342.
Word has been received that Allison K. Powell ’02,
C&F was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in ceremonies on June
25th in Washington, DC. Congratulations to Frank A. Pryor, III of the
Political Science Department, who was her advisor and to Erin Fitzsimmons
of the Admissions Department and Noreen Cameron of Campus Ministry who
both assisted with the application process.
Vince Perkins of the Villanova University Shop has been
awarded the "Business Excellence" Award by BUDGETexT Corporation
of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The award is given to individuals exhibiting
outstanding service to their university community by cutting costs for
students through the provision of used textbooks,
