Up 'Til
Dawn a huge success

Villanova University was congratulated and recognized by
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as the No. 2 collegiate fundraiser in
the United States. The hospital research is focused on finding cures for
cancer. With a contribution of $122,496.77, Villanova fell second only to
Kansas State University which raised $142,334.99. "Rookie of the Year" went
to Bentley College which raised $59,236.27 in there first year
participating. Villanova has been involved in major fundraising for St. Jude
which has significantly impacted the research progress for saving children
with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Every spring semester Villanova
hosts Up 'Till Dawn. Up Til Dawn encourages students, faculty, staff and on
campus organizations and clubs to form teams of six individuals. The team
then create various fundraising events. At the end of the semester, Up 'Til
Dawn hosts an all-night finale with food and entertainment.
St. Jude is a unique organization. Families of patients never
pay for treatments not covered by insurance. In addition, families of
patients without any medical insurance are not required to pay for any
treatment administered to them. Villanova is proud to contribute to such a
noble organization and strives to pass the donation of $122,496.77 next
year! |
